An Irony revealed in the MCGI Thanksgiving to the God of Israel

2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

I am still in awe, as the succeeding Thanksgiving days to God were filled with enlightening teachings in the Members, Church of God International (MCGI), or The Old Path, TOP (Ang Dating Daan, ADD)!

A guest asked, “What do you mean by, The Old Path?”

The Old Path Bible Exposition in California (with English subtitle) (1 of 7)

“The preaching of God’s words by Bro. Eli  had gone beyond the boundaries of Philippines Island. With God’s help, a successful event of Bible Exposition was held in San Jose, California.
Watch Bro. Eli discloses Biblical Truths as he answers questions relevant to our salvation. Queries referring to family such as how women should conform to their husbands, how to bring up kids, and other topics have been solved through the vivid explanation of the Bible. “ in YouTube.com
It was revealed through Bro. Eli Soriano reading the Holy Bible, that God leads whoever He calls to Jesus Christ, the door, and it’s the pastor of the sheep that takes heed to the calling, that is why when Christ is in him, the sealed Holy Bible becomes clearer to him. Jesus Christ was able to open it, so he will help him. The teachings overflow and this is the pleasure of God for the sake of the believers who were previously called by Him.  God is the porter or the gatekeeper.  Those blind leaders, those who have no Jesus Christ that shines in them, are thieves and robbers who climb in by the fence or another way.

Ephesians 5:14
for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

John 10 (ESV)

1“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. 2But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.

In the Worship Service, Kuya Daniel Razon helped us to understand how all things work together for good to those who love God, and even though trials come in our way, it’s still for the benefit of the MCGI.

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Last, last Saturday, we learned that in our present time, just like in the times of Paul, judgement has been going on to the Christians, because if not, it would be in the disadvantage of the those who are outside the Church if they will be the first one to experience it. While Christians are being judged, at the outside, they are given a chance by God. It is God who wants all men to be saved. And it is God who is the Saviour of all men.  On the judgement day, God’s mercy becomes more powerful, and we are given insights today.

I also learned that in as much as we sometimes feel that we wanted to retaliate to those who persecute the Church, we should follow God’s commandment to remain steadfast in the teachings, to ask God to forgive them, bless them, and grace them with the understanding that He has given us. Christians should not fight evil with evil, but rather promote the Gospel by putting into action, showing mercy and letting God provide in us the strength to fight this longing to retaliate – to fight evil with good works.

Acts 26:23
that the Christ would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would proclaim light to his own people and to the Gentiles.”

From east to the west, similar to that of the chosen people of God, the Israelites, in our time, God fulfilled His promise that He will call different people and it started from the Philippines. The proof is, even I have witnessed how God works in the members of the Church of God International, MCGI, starting from my fellow Filipinos of different languages, even the minorities, like our Aeta brethren, have been called to enter the House of God, which is the Church of God.

And now, several foreigners walk in the paths of righteousness, they even learned to sing Tagalog songs in praises to the Living God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

These foreigners were very enthusiastic because they have never heard of such wisdom coming from the gospel of God through Jesus Christ, being preached to them by Bro. Eli, as he reads the Holy Scriptures.  They have been waiting for the answers and have been waiting for these great time that they will hear what their conscience and heart were looking for.  Like the Christians in the Philippines, the seed in their heart started to take roots upon hearing the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.  They were filled with encouragement of the scriptures.

Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15 (NASV)

I was so impressed with the God that I learned to know through Bro. Eli.  And just this afternoon, I realized that there are a lot of people outside the Church who are being called by God to enter the Church of God, and my sins can take away my right to serve God and these people.  I pray that God helps me to overcome temptations. I become more aware of my actions this past few years knowing that God has been so merciful to me, to us Christians, even to the outside of the Church.

I felt ashamed too and I was crying a while ago thinking of the mistakes and sins, the decisions that I made without considering the teachings and taking it for granted. I am so disappointed in myself and asked God to forgive me and help me not to lose the light that healed my blindness 7 years ago.

2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Bro. Eli reiterated for so many times that we should always remember, if not memorize, put in our conscience this verse:

2 Peter 1 (New International Version)

5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

I know Bro. Eli and his brotherly love is not only by words but also by action, as he reiterated many times the qualities that we need to strive hard adding to our faith; he even gave us a mnemonics of these in tagalog, that is, 3Ks, 3Ps, and an M to make sure that we remember them.

By doing this, we will be effective and productive in our knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

To wit:

(1) Kagalingan – goodness,

(2) Kaalaman – knowledge,

(3) Kabanalan – godliness,

(4) Pagpipigil – self-control,

(5) Pagtitiis – perseverance,

(6) Pag-ibig – love,

(7) Mabuting Kalooban sa Kapatidbrotherly kindness.

There are so many things that I and my brethren learned. Hope you can join us in learning more through the light that takes the veil off.

Kuya Daniel always remind us of what Bro. Eli taught him since his childhood, “That doing good will not reap  evil.”

I am nothing, a worthless servant.

Thanks and glory be to our God for his unspeakable gifts!
