Where is your faith?

James 1 (NIV) 

19My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.  22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

 26If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.

27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

I read kevinleehiggins blog, with a post entitled, “let go and follow Jesus.” In reflection to what he wrote, I left the following comments:

Please allow me to say many things from what I heard and learned from Bro Eli Soriano who reads the Holy Bible to us.

If you will read the Holy Bible, it says that Faith  comes from hearing and hearing the word of Jesus Christ. The problem with hearers is that, when they get an idea from the teachings and feel offended, they stop. And even if they don’t stop but rather continue, they are hearing the wrong gospel.

So, we have two problems already, how to hear the true gospel in order to have the right faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ gives the commandments coming from the Father. If Jesus Christ says so, then we should follow with all our heart, soul, and mind.

If the rich man would only know that it is not only him who needs saving and that his material wealth is something that is needed to propagate the word of God, more importantly, today, he would have let go of it. He did not continue listening because he was already offended of one teaching or commandment.

By listening, we would know that there are a lot of commandments not only for the Israelites, but also for the Christians. The hearers should also be taught that Christians have to follow certain commandments as they grow in faith in Jesus Christ, from milk to meat.

So, it is very important that you listen and listen to the correct teachings. If you won’t listen, you will not have the faith that is in Christ.

In order for you to believe in Christ you still need to listen more. Faith and belief is considered alive, when the first is put into practice and your belief is aligned with the teachings. How can you have a faith that is alive when you do not know what you ought to practice? You need to learn through listening.

So if you are a rich man, it was said that you should give your wealth. One of the reasons is for you to realize who you will serve, money or God. But later on, you will also learn that it is needed to propagate the gospel. The pure and faultless religion that is accepted by God our Father is to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:27)

Why not put a free Transient Home for the needy with your money if you are rich? Or have free bus transportation for the elderly and physically challenged people?

If you are a murderer, or you are a hired killer, stop it and instead listen. Because the teaching is learned from milk to meat. If you do not listen but instead walk away from the teachings, thinking that you won’t have money for economic needs, you wouldn’t be able to hear another teaching that is, you need to work with your hands in righteousness and God will do the rest.

To women who wear clothes that almost show their sexual organs, what should they hear? They should change their mind. Women are advised in the Holy Bible to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,  – 1 Timothy 2:9 (KJV). And if women continue to listen, though offended, they will hear the reason why they need to do such and the goal they need to look into and live by: Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

So, whatever faith you say you have, it should be growing as you are taught from your previous wrong way of life moving forward to righteousness and holiness, and if not put into practice will all be in vain.

Now, how would you know if you have the faith whether it is right or wrong? You need to listen right? And hearing and hearing the words of God will give you the right faith.

Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him…. He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” Luke Chapter 8

If you do have faith, let us read in the Holy Bible an event that tells us to assess what faith do we have and where do we put our faith in: The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” – Luke chapter 8.

In these passages, it says how important it is for one to know where his faith is. Who could teach you how to find and know it? It is by hearing and listening what is needed in order to know where your faith is. These say to whom we should listen to and obey. We need to obey Jesus Christ. How would we know what He wanted as to follow? It is in the Scriptures. Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ – Romans 10:17 (NIV).

Is it clear now? Is it clear that faith comes from hearing the message. And that the message is heard through the word of Christ. The question now is, how can you hear the message of Christ?

The message was taught to the Apostles and in turn, they wrote about it. Now, the spirit of those who sent the message and those who have wrote it would need to be consistent, one faith, one God, one Lord, etc, and so is the one we will be hearing it this days.

Almost all the born again Christians has heard that whoever calls in the name of the Lord will be saved.

The question is, how will you call the Lord? Is it enough that you call the Lord by saying, Lord, Lord, we call on You? Or you tell Him, Lord, Lord, I believe in You? How then can you call the Lord? How can you believe Him? How can you have faith in Him? More importantly, how can you believe the one you do not see?

Let us continue to read the verses: 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

 14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?

 And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?

And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

 15And how can they preach unless they are sent?

 As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

 16But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”

 17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

18But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:
   “Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
      their words to the ends of the world.”

 19Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,
   “I will make you envious by those who are not a nation;
      I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.” 20And Isaiah boldly says,
   “I was found by those who did not seek me;
      I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.” 21But concerning Israel he says,
   “All day long I have held out my hands
      to a disobedient and obstinate people
.”

Who are now these people who found God though they did not seek Him? Who are these people who did not ask for God but He revealed Himself to them? These people are obedient and  agreeable, amenable, compliant, cooperative, flexible, helpful, submissive, willing, yielding
people. Those who are ready to listen to God from point one to nth point. Maybe, it is you.

Romans 12 (NIV)

20On the contrary:
   “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
      if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
   In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Seek the people of God who do these nowadays. And that group that teaches all the commandments Jesus Christ commanded to the disciples. Matthew 28:20 says and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In summary, we need to continue to listen so that we will have faith and belief. And if we think we do have a faith and belief, then let us test if this is aligned with what the Apostles preached and wrote of so that we will be corrected if we are in wrong. Then, we will grow in Jesus Christ.

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

You of little faith, why not store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

If you hear correctly, then your heart will store the correct gospel. Someone will read, others will hear and will put into actions what has been heard. Revelation Chapter 1 verse 3 says,

 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy,

 and blessed are those who hear it

 and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

For You, what is your faith? Did you get it from hearing and hearing the words of God. The words that are needed to be obeyed and be a way of life? The words that should be put into action.

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead – James 2:17.

The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! – Matthew 6:22-23.

I enjoin you all, let us listen and listen to finally make our faith grow sturdy in Jesus Christ.

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead – James 2:26. Let us hear what God wanted us to do and at the same time have a faith that is not dead.

Don’t be like the rich man, he said he do some stuff that he thought would save him and asked for Jesus Christ’s teachings. But instead, when he heard a teaching that he should follow next, he did not pursue listening because he was offended already to the commandments that follow after the Law of Moses.

    Eyes, if you are an MCGI, then you need to ask the ministry worker assigned to your locale about your doctrinal concerns.

    And what a coincidence, I was just done posting a long comment to kevinleehiggins‘ post which might be an answer for your questions here. Because of that, I shall post it also here so that you can read my reply just the same. I wrote it having no idea that you will introduce yourself now as an MCGI. And now you are giving your blog which is being referred by someone who seemed to pretend as an MCGI too, who calls himself “Member MCGI Cebu Chapter, and the other one is eye2eye.” Are these three nicknames yours? Can you please confirm again if you are carrying these nicknames and if you are the one who said this: Yes brother, EYES, eyes2eyes, member of MCGI Cebu Chapter and master Moon Raven is only one.

    I am just unsure if you are an MCGI, because of what you have been posting here and there. I am also unsure if you are the one who I found commenting on those blogs that I visit because you are also opposing my comments.

    since you are asking me brother then I have to answer.

    What is faith? well I can’t give you the definite answer of what this word faith is all about.

    But regarding on how to describe it then we can refer to the Holy Bible.

    However, I can give you my insight about this word faith.

    rule #1

    The word faith is within all of us in different amount.

    as it written:

    Mt:9:29: Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. – (refer Matthew 9:28-30)

    rule #2

    Faith can be achieve through time and discipline.

    a.) You will be tested in a difficult path.
    b.) You will be tested which could make you afraid that you will think you cannot go on.
    c.) the demand of discipline will be tormenting.

    The greatest amount of faith will be equal to Lord Jesus Christ

    and the written scripture will fulfilled:

    Lk:6:40: The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

    These are his own rules because he interpreted the verses from his own understanding. He is either a mislead follower or a mislead teacher, unknowingly, misleading other people. He failed miserably to understand the verses he used.

    Let us follow Eyes’ flow of reasoning without accepting. Eyes’ stated Rule #1 using a verse. But how would that relate to the topic?

    First, listening is very important to have Faith. Those who approached Jesus Christ have their own problems and self interest that were manifested after they listen to Jesus Christ. Some went there having faith from their own religion that some would even despise Jesus Christ while they listen. Some wanted to be cured of their diseases, others have problems they wanted solved. Others want to be healed physically, others wanted to know more of Jesus Christ. Others wanted to test Him. Some would not even have the slightest idea why they were there, listening. And some were there out of curiosity.

    There you go, these people will get what they wanted based on the faith that they have and the Faith that came through listening and witnessing Jesus Christ’s works and teachings.

    So, people would either have faith from their own religion; some have faith because they learned of what Jesus Christ can do. Some has nothing at all until they finally hear and witness Jesus Christ. What about the first verse Eyes’ mentioned bout his rule #1?

    Mt:9:29: Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. – (refer Matthew 9:28-30)

    The verse mentioned something about “according to their Faith,” something will happen to them right? What constitutes faith being mentioned in that verse? Is it formed because of their belief after they heard Jesus Christ or from someone who talked about Jesus Christ? And they are sick. Some would want to be healed instantly, some would be following Christ once he is healed, some would even wanted to be disciple if he is not healed. What have this people already have heard from Jesus Christ or anyone around them? Did they hear that Jesus Christ heals blind people? Of course, that is probably why they went to Jesus Christ. They were there in the presence of Jesus Christ, they can probably touch him, they can hear him, and now, those who were healed can see him.

    These are questions that you might be asking yourself. But what you need to ask is that, did all of them decide to follow Jesus Christ and have the eternal life promised to those who will do what the Master told them until He comes back again? Do they have any idea that they need to work for their eternal life after Jesus Christ has healed them from sickness and sin?

    Will they continue to beat their brethren while the Master is not around? Did they continue to hear Jesus Christ’s teachings after they were healed? Maybe you can read about this, many of those Jesus Christ healed did not even return to give thanks.

    Do you think they followed Jesus Christ to listen more of what He has to say? When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” – Luke 17

    If you were the leper, or you are the rich man, what will you do? Maybe, if you were not offended of the teachings, or even if you were offended, since you are in awe for the great things Jesus Christ did and those teachings that no one can contradict, you will want to hear more. If you were the leper, you might have understood that after you were healed, you need to give praise to God. Is it one time? How can he praise God? Will he still follow Jesus Christ wherever he will go?

    But, nowadays, we can’t witness Jesus Christ anymore, even the Saints like Paul, Peter, etc. What was left for us is the Holy Scriptures which says that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Even today, we have to know where our faith is by hearing and hearing, enriching our hearts with the teachings of Jesus Christ written by the men of God, written in our hearts by God. And if you are fortunate enough, you will see people like them nowadays, these people of God, working and laboring for the sake of their fellow men’s salvation.

    So, let us further analyze your faith. Which Faith? Faith to whom? Where is your Faith? Eyes, if you have the faith, then tell us how did it come to you? Who do you listen to Eyes? Give the name of your preacher, or reader.

    Nowadays, faith is measured on how you hear the gospel and how you put it into action. Surely, others placed into action that which comprises their faith. Some killed people because it was taught to them, that was what they heard. They were taught that it is alright to kill for the sake of their Minister. Some preaches that outside their Church, there is no salvation. But are these teachings really from Jesus Christ? Did God teach the Christians to do these things?

    Your faith now will be totally different considering the number of preachers that appeared and has left their legacy in forms of different sects and name of churches, totally different from the Church of God mentioned by St Paul. It is now different gospels that you hear that has the make of your faith. Is it all same banana, like what the born again christian pastors preach, “accept Jesus as your personal lord and saviour.” Jesus as personal lord and saviour has no basis in the Scriptures, very much unbiblical. These pastors even neglect the commandment Jesus Christ left them:

    and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

    How can you expect Jesus Christ to be with these people when they themselves do not obey what was taught by Jesus Christ?

    As the bible defined Faith in the Holy Bible, it comes from hearing and hearing the word of Jesus Christ which will inculcate in us what He wanted us to do so. Jesus Christ relays to us what His Father commanded him.

    And Eyes, if you have nothing to do but spoil the verses here, then you are showing us the spoiled faith that you have. It is not in accordance to Jesus Christ’s commandment. It is not according to the faith that comes through hearing and hearing the gospel that is in Jesus Christ.

    Let us go to Eyes’ rule #2 and rule #3, even rule #4. And remember, you can only say that you have the correct faith, if you are hearing the correct gospel.

    And these rules from #2-4 that Eyes’ mentioned, or if I may correct him, these verses are for disciples and Christians who are day by day, from day 1 going forward of hearing and hearing the gospel or teachings of Jesus Christ are applying these in their daily lives. Faith becomes visible from their good works. And these good works are learned from the teachings of Jesus Christ.

    Why will you be tormented? What will you do? Will you thank God even if you are persecuted? What are the persecution you will experience?

    If women have long natural hairs and wear modest apparel, then what do you think will be their persecution compared to women who say they are Christians but their appearance tells otherwise.

    How about Eyes, if you are still a drunkard, or an addict, or with vices, womanizer, you do cigarettes, etc. Do you feel tormented when you have this vices or when you avoid these things?

    When people try to hit you here and there and posts malicious news and videos in the internet and tries to kill you, even by words, let me ask, are you being persecuted or not? Or are you the one doing these kinds of persecution?

    Though, Christians point of view now is, having vices is more tormenting than having none. Giving instead of stealing is more peaceful, etc.

    So, because I am talking about faith, I am saying that if you are not going to follow those doctrines that is in the Church of God, as preached by St Paul, then, you need to re-assess your faith. I have given you some commandments to Christians, even women from my above comments. And if you cannot see these to your brothers and sisters, then, your faith is not a faith similar to the faith of Jesus Christ.

    The Holy Bible mentions of wrong faith, just to inform you. Wrong faith that comprises other gospels, arguments, imaginations and every pretension that sets itself against the knowledge of God. Let us all hear the true gospel so that we will be able to be obedient to Christ, in the real sense of the word, obedience.

    And Eyes, as soon as you have the right faith through hearing and hearing the word of Jesus Christ, then, you will one day realize the correct interpretation of your rule 2-4, once you have cleaved to the Church of God, mentioned by St Paul.

    To the author, why not learn to let go and weigh your faith if it is prospering or if it is a wrong faith – and listen more for you to attain the true faith that is in Jesus Christ! And then you will have hope, but the most important of all is Charity or Love (Agape).

    By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am “timid” when face to face with you, but “bold” when away! I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.

    The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

    But, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends -2 Corinthians 10.

    There are so much to say. Hope the above sinks in with the help of God. I am nothing.

    Again, Eyes, if you are an MCGI as you have just introduced yourself now, then you need to ask the ministry worker assigned to your locale about your doctrinal concerns so that you will understand more and align your faith to the Holy Bible for Christians.

    Brother I have a question;

    Pardon me if I can ask this because I’m just only a 1 year plus old on this congregation.

    What kind of faith those people had in four gospel such as thus blind man, samaritan woman, deaf man, centurion, the woman who touch Christ cloth and others?

    I think those people did not hear , constantly hear and completely hear the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ because some of them are gentiles.

    Jesus Christ always told them that they heal according to their faith.

    They are not yet completely indoctrinated the teaching of Christ but yet they have faith as what our Lord said unto them.

    where did they get their faith?

    I got your point brother but I think there is lack of something that we should going to dig.

    Regarding to the ministry worker you said, For me I think your spiritual prowess is enough or can compete them or maybe surpass them.

    That’s why I am comfortable to ask you a question?

    Here is an another question arises brother:

    If faith is came on hearing and hearing as you mention then why the Lord Jesus Christ asking the apostle in this manner;

    where is your faith?

    Remember the Apostle could always hear the word of God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Remember also that some gentiles which was heal by our Lord Jesus Christ did not completely hear or hear the word of God but still the Lord Jesus Christ recognizing their action as faith.

    Why is it brother?

    I think there is a secret of faith and that’s our quest.

    But, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends -2 Corinthians 10.

    The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching -1 Timothy 5:17.

    So if I were you, you need to talk with your ministry worker in your locale for your doctrinal concerns, assuming you are an MCGI.

    I, myself, if you read my posts in this blog, I have few questions and are being answered as I attend in our Thanksgiving, that is, when Brother Eli Soriano starts to teach us by reading the Holy Scriptures. So, you better not be too hasty or you will miss the way. Just be patient and you will learn, God willing.

    You will also see that the doctrines are not just by words but by power and the brethren are following them.

    I am sorry for saying that you are a mislead follower. You might just be too studious in learning but it seemed that you are making haste to conclude on the teachings that you have not heard yet nor understood. Brethren should not be like that, we may be Berians in terms of being studious on the words of God, but we are also Christians who put the doctrines we learned into practice. With the understanding that we have a helper, Jesus Christ himself.

    You really need to talk to our elders because you are talking of things you do not understand. You even try to explain and yet it seemed you are opposing the doctrines that was taught to us.

    The secret of faith is in Jesus Christ. And you need to learn more about Jesus Christ through hearing and hearing his words even if you say that you are one year old plus in the Church. We learn altogether, we eat in the Church. We do not eat ahead from our brethren. So that no one is hungry and thirsty.

    If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment. And when I come I will give further directions – 1 Corinthians 11:34.

    There are just two things that left for us once we hear and learn the teachings by and by, deciding whether to follow them or not.

    1Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!

    But if you are pretending to be an MCGI, here is a verse for you.

    You know that principle above brother;

    That principles above is the one used by Catholic Church that’s why their priest and santo papa is so special in their congregations, maybe they misinterpret that verse or intentionally do it.

    They did not do the basic principle of law that said;

    Mt:20:27: And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

    in short brother, even if you are the elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor you should think yourself as nothing and if there is the one who steal your honor then give it to him.

    and that discipline brother is one of the tormenting. – rule #2, the leads you to rule #3.

    because the leader of the church is not exempted of the test, their pride and honor will be tested.

    as the word of God was tested, he make himself turn to flesh to test his pride and honor.

    My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.     Eyes (sister), be careful of your words and do not rely in your own understanding.

    Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. – Ephesians 4:29

    Sister, your comments give an impression that you are just quoting passages to show that you are biblical minded. And you wanted already to tackle deeper meanings of the scriptures when you cannot give the proper context of the verses you used. I suggest you attend indoctrinations again for review. You are wrong by thinking that you are just elaborating the word of God. You are confusing the readers with your different gospels and explanations. Please avoid using the verses incorrectly because in this kind of blogging, you are diverting the minds of readers to unwholesome teachings. And please, examine yourself if you are disregarding authority from God which were given to our elders in faith.

    MCGI’s scriptural doctrines are proof that we are different from the human and unbiblical principles of other denominations.

    Brother Eli himself suspended for one year a district worker for being so blunt to his locale brethren, for not being careful of words he used for our poor brothers. This is after several (more than 4) officers and locale brethren testified to what transpired and he was found on the wrong. That district worker was taught to live and to lead by example, but he failed to do so, biblical speaking.

    Let us be careful in what we write too. Please assess yourself, whether or not, you are giving a verse that is aligned to the teachings of God; as we brethren heard of Him and were taught in Him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
    Therefore each of us must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to our neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

    Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. – Ephesians 4:1-6

    Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. – Ephesians 4:14-15

    I advise you to read the whole chapter; and the rest of the books in the Holy Bible too, for a wider understanding of the context, for example:

    Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slavejust as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Matthew 20:26-28 (NIV)

    Jesus Christ himself is an example of a brother who gave a humble and a righteous service to brethren, on how they will act as servants. Jesus Christ commanded the disciples of what to do: to live and to lead by example based on Matthew 28:19-20. Sister eyes, can you do all these things mentioned in the verses?:

    Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

    Primarily, disciples were known and chosen by God to do such tasks. If you cannot give the respect due to them, how can we expect you respecting other people who has no authority over you?

    Brother Eli Soriano and our elders are there to serve, not to be served. They do not give lip service, but by faith they show it in deeds. And we need to give the respect due them, even Jesus Christ respected his disciples and served them, vice-versa. If you respect Jesus Christ through obedience, then obey your parents in the Lord. These commandment has a promise and we are experiencing it, Jesus Christ is our helper too.

    Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. – Ephesians 6:1
    Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. -Colossians 3:20

    Do you know why we call our elders, our brothers and sisters? We also call Brother Eli and Brother Daniel as our brothers, vice-versa? Because they do not want us to think that they are our Masters but instead, they want us to understand that we are siblings in the Faith. And this not their opinion, but instead what they learned from the Holy Scriptures, which they taught to us by will of God.

    The authority, respect, and double honor Brother Eli asks from us is to let them teach us what God has made them to understand. And for us to follow the doctrines us they have relayed it to us, which was opened to them in advance by the Holy Spirit for our benefit. We are giving them due respect when we live by the doctrines in action and deeds, learning from them. And they are our elders, we should respect them the way we respect our parents, with dignity and courtesy from the heart, soul and mind. We are a family of believers, we do respect each other. If we respect people outside the Church of God, then how much more do we need to respect our brethren? Brother Eli and Brother Daniel does not only live but also lead by example in doing good deeds. And they managed to do the good works well with God’s help.

We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the field God has assigned to us, a field that reaches even to you. We are not going too far in our boasting, as would be the case if we had not come to you, for we did get as far as you with the gospel of Christ. Neither do we go beyond our limits by boasting of work done by others. Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly expand, so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. For we do not want to boast about work already done in another man’s territory. But, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. – 2 Corinthians 10:12-18

    Do you recall any elders in MCGI who wanted to be called Sirs or Lords? If you can recall one or two, then you are in a wrong MCGI locale in Cebu, you should tell me your locale and I’ll ask someone to investigate.

    If you do not believe Brother Eli, why would choose and insist talking to me, what is your purpose then? Are you persuading me to believe in you? Are you insinuating that those I wrote above are my own mere opinions? Why would you ask for my opinion? Don’t you want to hear the teachings I learned from listening and listening to the word of God instead?

    If you are carrying the MCGI faith, then why are you asking me to give my opinions? Sister eyes, why are you asking me to do such a thing? You only write of your own opinions, don’t you?     You are asking me to further discuss about true faith; and I think you do not disagree to my long comments. The long comments I wrote even before your comments are about the growing faith that is in Jesus Christ, if you haven’t read them. I mentioned that I have learned those I wrote from studying and listening to Brother Eli and Brother Daniel who I believe are chosen by God to preach the gospel to all the nations. You will know the faith once you accepted the doctrine and live by it, not of human ideas and opinions, but teachings of God.

    We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. – Hebrews 5: 11 -14

    Doing good and having the true faith goes hand in hand. And you will learn both through listening and listening by the word of God.

    Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.     This is commanded to those who have understood the truth, for example Brother Eli and Brother Daniel, regardless if their audience are hypocrites and murderers, they still need to proclaim the Truth as they were commanded. They do not fear for their own life, because they are given the wisdom to follow Jesus Christ, His obedience and faithfulness. Only God knows when to take their lives. Are you ready for such work, sister? They teach us not to revenge but pray for the aggressors because they don’t know what they are doing.

    If you are ready sister for such a labor, our elders in MCGI are waiting for you, they are the ones responsible for nourishing us about the word of God. Please proceed to them. Pray to God that you will understand too. Because not all can accept solid food.

    I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.1 Corinthians 3:2

    Let me remind you again of another verse:

    If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. – 1 Timothy 6:3-5

    Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:

    I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

    It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.

    God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

    And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

    Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel.     It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

    Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
    If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me.

    But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs. For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow.     If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless.

    But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

    Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

    All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

    Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you. For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

    Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!

    today I fulfilled my vows.

    One witness is not enough to convict a man accused of any crime or offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.

    17Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. 19My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, 20remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

    2 Thessalonians 1:3
    We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.

    a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers…. (Proverbs Chapter 2-6)

    “Blessed are ye … and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.” – Mt:5:11

    ” But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.” – Mt:13:16:

    “For verily I say unto you, That many prophets (pastor) and righteous men (minister) have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.’ – Mt:13:17

    Because the wisdom of the word of God does not confined on a certain situation or time but rather its wisdom or essence is applicable in any rightful situation at anytime until the end of the ages.

    “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” – Mt:5:20

    Yes I heard brother Eli words and recognized that it is true that’s why I was baptized this church last April 7, 2007 but it does not mean I owed to certain person.

    I owed only and thankful to the Father in heaven through our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Because “The servant does not deserve THANKS for obeying order, –

    Does he? – Luke 17:9

    As what I said, if we are truly in truth then we will not be worry but rather we rejoice. Have peace

    Romans 12

    1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

    2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

    3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.

    7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously;

    if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

    Love

    9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

    13Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

    14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

    16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

    17Do not repay anyone evil for evil.

    Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

    19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”says the Lord.

    20On the contrary:
    “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
    if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
    In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

    21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

    Luke 17:
    1Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. 2It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. 3So watch yourselves.

    9Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ ”

    2 Thessalonians 1
    1Paul, Silas and Timothy,
    To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

    2Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    3We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.

    4Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.

    5All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. 6God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.

    8He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power 10on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

    11With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. 12We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    2 Thessalonians 2:

    13But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

    14He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
    16May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

    17I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

    18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

    19Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.
