I pray that a Muslim learns to listen to A Reader of the Holy Bible instead!

Exodus 33:13

If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

Jeremiah 6:16
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Proverbs 1:5
let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance-

Proverbs 9:9
Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Deuteronomy 17:19
It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees

There are a lot of people who questions the integrity of the Holy Bible but then again, they do not realize that most of the time, they are using an unworthy person or reference to disprove the truth found in the Holy Scriptures. Their understanding of the scriptures are actually a totality of the interpretations, human ideas, preconceived ideas, bias notions, deceit, etc. of those teachers, preachers or speakers, even writers who either disagree or agree with the Holy Bible, or those who believe that there is or no God.

One thing to prove my point, the description, attitude, values, etc. that of a servant of God are all found in the Holy Scriptures.  Just read the Holy Bible thoroughly and you will know whom to listen to.  But if you still cannot understand the scriptures, then there is always a way. Just avoid the ways of the hypocrites and liars, especially those who thought they are working for God but they are not, ironically they still receive salary for it.

(Jude 1:11) “Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.”

Sufi786, how can you listen to J. B. Phillips? You even said that he is a paid servant of the Anglican Church! Sufi786, you said (and I quote):

“We are not alone in this discovery that Matthew did not write the “Gospel according to St. Matthew” and that it was written by some anonymous hand. J. B. Phillips concurs with us in our findings. He is the paid servant of the Anglican Church, a prebendary of the Chichester Cathedral, England. He would have no reason to lie or betray to the detriment of the official view of his Church! Refer to his introduction to the “Gospel of St. Matthew” (reproduced here below). Phillips has this to say about its authorship.”

Was there any mention in the bible that Christians, especially the leaders, were paid to do God’s commandment?

1 Timothy 6:

3If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

If in the midst of the Church of God, the savage wolves did not spare the flock, how much more those mute dogs with mighty appetites will do to people outside the Church of God?

Acts 20:29
I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.

Isaiah 56:11
They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, each seeks his own gain.

Isaiah 56:10
Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep.

Philippians 3:2
Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh.

Revelation 22:15
Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

These dogs and those they bit also bring with them teachings and traditions of men, beyond what is written in the scriptures. They even defile the scriptures and summarize it based on their human ideas and interpretation.

Matthew 16:12
Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Matthew 15:9
They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.’ ”

Colossians 2:22
These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings.

1 Timothy 4:2
Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

Luke 21:8
He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.

But what instead can we read from the bible about a servant of God? It is the servant who feeds the flock for free and not because of a salary! They also teach undefiled words of God written in the Scriptures and to obey what are needed to be obeyed.

3 John 1:7 For they have gone out for the sake of the name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles.

1 Corinthians 4:6
Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, “Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not take pride in one man over against another.

1 Peter 5:2
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve;

Matthew 28:20
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

2 Thessalonians 2:15
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Hebrews 13:9
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them.

Matthew 28:

19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Sufi786, I have given verses from the Holy Bible for correction to your false claims but then again, you remain faithful listening to the hypocrites who pretends to be Christians and shepherds themselves. Even demons believe that there is one God.  But the similarity that you can notice with these demons and people who believe the same is their deeds and actions.  What separates true Christians from these demons, Christian pretenders, and other people is their deed.

James 2:19 (New International Version)

19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

Are they really following God? Definitely not! Sufi786 please read the verses below why demons where stated as an example in comparisson to some people who believes like them, they have the same deeds – that are totally unbiblical, evil deeds.

Titus 1:

10For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group. 11They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12Even one of their own prophets has said, “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.” 13This testimony is true. Therefore, rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith 14and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of those who reject the truth. 15To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

16They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

2 Timothy 3:7
always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.

But God has a promise to those who will know Him, those who will search:

Ezekiel 34:8
As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, because my flock lacks a shepherd and so has been plundered and has become food for all the wild animals, and because my shepherds did not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock,

9 therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the LORD : 10 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock. I will remove them from tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

You will notice that True Christians can be distinguished not just from what their concept of God and Christianity is but also if these concepts are visible in their words and actions.

2 Timothy 3:14
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,

1 Thessalonians 4:4
that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable,

Titus 3:14
Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.

Christians’ words and actions have basis and no contradictions, all can be read from the Holy Bible, through the help of God.

Philippians 4:9
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Acts 11:26
and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

Acts 26:12-29
12“On one of these journeys I was going to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. 13About noon, O king, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing around me and my companions. 14We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ 15“Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’

‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. 16‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you. 17I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.19″So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven. 20First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

21That is why the Jews seized me in the temple courts and tried to kill me.

22But I have had God’s help to this very day, and so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen— 23that the Christ would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would proclaim light to his own people and to the Gentiles.”

24At this point Festus interrupted Paul’s defense. “You are out of your mind, Paul!” he shouted. “Your great learning is driving you insane.”

25“I am not insane, most excellent Festus,” Paul replied. “What I am saying is true and reasonable. 26The king is familiar with these things, and I can speak freely to him. I am convinced that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner. 27King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do.”

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?”

29Paul replied, “Short time or long—I pray God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.”

I pray that not only a Muslim like Sufi786 but also those other religious denominations, who are under the influence or power of the dogs’ yeasts, will take time to listen to the Reader of the Holy Bible instead. Fairlane needs to learn the basics too though he has a good question below:

‘Now, I don’t mean, “How do we know God exists?” Such questions are pointless and lead nowhere. I mean “How do we know you, or anyone, is right about God?” In other words, how am I supposed to know if Catholics or Baptists or Hindus or Wiccans or whomever is telling the truth? What if they’re wrong, and it turns out Shakers were the ones who truly understood? How are we supposed to know?”‘

I hope their questions are not more than rhetorics.  They should maintain a heart that still hopes for an answer.  Or else, they asked in vain.

2 Timothy 3:7
always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.

The Holy Bible says that it is in the teachings you can determine who is speaking the Truth.

Luke 21:

13And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

14Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

15For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Galatians 1:

8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!

Imagine, even an angel who would come from heaven that will teach a gospel other than what the Apostles preached will be eternally condemned.  So, the more we should be weary and be aware on false teachers who has nothing to offer but false teachings and false hopes in the form of miracles and flowery words!  You yourself can notice the hypocrisy in them no matter how sheep like their covering is.  You will know in their teaching if they speak of their own or if it comes from God.

John 7:

16Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me. 17If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.

18He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

I hope they will pray and continue to seek the kingdom of God so that those dogs won’t have the power to confuse them anymore in learning the real score about Christianity, Jesus Christ, and God the Father.

Psalm 22:20
Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs.

Sufi786, imagine how unfortunate you, especially the members or people have become, receiving defiled teachings and traditions from their preachers or leaders. Those false teachers have gain comfort and became richer as they spread their lies! Some even taught their members not to read the Holy Bible even if they call themselves Christians or followers of Jesus Christ. Even the priests or friars, who called the Filipinos “indio“, made sure that we won’t read the Holy Scriptures, they call it the Secret Book. Some of my countrymen were put to death having found to be reading the Secret Book, one is Jose Rizal. Maybe you can read about the history of the Philippines under the Spanish regime and learn how we were maltreated. Maybe these kinds of teachers, who are hypocrites, from whom you learn what Christianity is. Sufi786 I will not condemn you for thinking bad about Jesus Christ and Christianity. But it is high time for you to unlearn those knowledge and know the Truth.

Therefore, I have offered you, and even urging you now that you may as well learn the Holy Bible from and with the Members, Church of God International for free instead of learning Christianity from the hypocrites. And you will understand the Holy Bible, more so you will learn who God really is according to what He wants us to know and do for this age.

1 Timothy 4:13
Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.

1 Peter 4:16
However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

Mark 6:34
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

John 7:16
Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me.

John 7:17
If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.

John 14:24
He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

I am still hoping that you will reconsider listening to Bro Eli first as you give your questions directly to him and he will read to you the answers thoroughly coming from the Holy Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit. You can visit esoriano.wordpress.com.

Acts 20:28
Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

Acts 5:42
Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:2
I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the teachings, just as I passed them on to you.

2 Timothy 1:13
What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 6:6Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

Brother Eliseo F. Soriano, also known as Brother Eli, whenever he preaches, reads the Bible. Questions are answered by the Bible (See video below).

(One of the audience was Jonathan Hudson of Los Angeles, California who asked Brother Eli, “Can God commit sin?” Bro. Eli answered his question not from his own capacity, but from biblical verses that was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God)

His work and manner of preaching fits another prophecy:

Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

If God will allow, Bro Eli will answer your long rebuttal above (found from your websibte)  point by point. (base from the Holy Bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and if God allows)

Jeremiah 23:3
“I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number.

Acts 18:11
So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.

Ephesians 4:14
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.

Please read below verses:

Jeremiah 23 (New International Version)

16 This is what the LORD Almighty says:
“Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you;
they fill you with false hopes.
They speak visions from their own minds,
not from the mouth of the LORD.

17 They keep saying to those who despise me,
‘The LORD says: You will have peace.’
And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts
they say, ‘No harm will come to you.’

18 But which of them has stood in the council of the LORD
to see or to hear his word?
Who has listened and heard his word?

19 See, the storm of the LORD
will burst out in wrath,
a whirlwind swirling down
on the heads of the wicked.

20 The anger of the LORD will not turn back
until he fully accomplishes
the purposes of his heart.
In days to come
you will understand it clearly
.

21 I did not send these prophets,
yet they have run with their message;
I did not speak to them,
yet they have prophesied
.

22 But if they had stood in my council,
they would have proclaimed my words to my people
and would have turned them from their evil ways
and from their evil deeds
.

23Am I only a God nearby,”
declares the LORD,
and not a God far away?

24 Can anyone hide in secret places
so that I cannot see him?”
declares the LORD.
“Do not I fill heaven and earth?”
declares the LORD.

25 I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’ 26 How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? 27 They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their fathers forgot my name through Baal worship.

28 Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the LORD. 29Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

30Therefore,” declares the LORD, “I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. 31 Yes,” declares the LORD, “I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, ‘The LORD declares.’ 32 Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares the LORD. “They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least,” declares the LORD.

False Oracles and False Prophets

33 “When these people, or a prophet or a priest, ask you, ‘What is the oracle of the LORD ?’ say to them, ‘What oracle? I will forsake you, declares the LORD.’ 34 If a prophet or a priest or anyone else claims, ‘This is the oracle of the LORD,’ I will punish that man and his household. 35 This is what each of you keeps on saying to his friend or relative: ‘What is the LORD’s answer?’ or ‘What has the LORD spoken?’ 36 But you must not mention ‘the oracle of the LORD ‘ again, because every man’s own word becomes his oracle and so you distort the words of the living God, the LORD Almighty, our God. 37 This is what you keep saying to a prophet: ‘What is the LORD’s answer to you?’ or ‘What has the LORD spoken?’ 38 Although you claim, ‘This is the oracle of the LORD,’ this is what the LORD says: You used the words, ‘This is the oracle of the LORD,’ even though I told you that you must not claim, ‘This is the oracle of the LORD.’ 39 Therefore, I will surely forget you and cast you out of my presence along with the city I gave to you and your fathers. 40 I will bring upon you everlasting disgrace—everlasting shame that will not be forgotten.”

Matthew 9:13
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Luke 10:21
At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

John 6:45
It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.

1 John 3:24
Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

1 John 2:3
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.

1 John 5:3
This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,

Revelation 3:3
Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

Revelation 14:12
This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.

Revelation 1:3
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Luke 21:

1And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

2And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

4For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

5And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

6As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

7And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

8And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, Iam Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

9But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

10Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

11And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

12But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.

13And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

14Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

15For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Jeremiah 6:16
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Acts 8:

26Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet. 29The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”

30Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

31“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

32The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture:
He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,
and as a lamb before the shearer is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
33In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.
Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth.”

34The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?35Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.

36As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?” 38And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.

Matthew 28:

19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Exodus 33:

12 Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.

14 The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

15 Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

17 And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

19 And the LORD said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”

From henceforth, I pray that you too will be given the grace to read the Scriptures unveiled.

2 Corinthians 3:14
But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.

2 Corinthians 3:15
Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts.

Yes I thought I knew my Bible
    Reading piecemeal, hit or miss
Now a part of John or Matthew
    Then a bit of Genesis

    Certain chapters of Isaiah
    Certain Psalms, twenty-third
First of Proverbs, twelfth of Romans
Yes, I thought I knew the Word

But I found that thorough reading
Was a different thing to do
    And the way was unfamiliar
When I read my Bible through

You who like to play at Bible
    Dip and dabble here there
Just before you kneel all weary
    Yawning through a hurried prayer

You who treat this crown of writings
As you treat no other book
    Just a paragraph disjointed
    Just a crude impatient look

    Try a worthier procedure
Try a broad and steady view
You will kneel in awesome wonder
When you read the Bible through
