A Wife, not the Desperate ones

Traditionally, a wife is a female partner of a male, that is, a woman of a husband. She is also referred to or called a mother, or housewife. Several definitions of the word “wife” can be googled down from the internet. While those who have the fascination and sense of adventure wanting to be single, they opted chasing none. It can also be a term used by some women for their henpeck husbands. And for some of those feminists who are inclined to think that man and woman are created equally, they share the duties of a wife with their own husband.

I am a gay individual, and I want to have a family of my own. I have been thinking of my future on earth in terms of being a head of a family, myself being the father. Though I want to have a child of my own, a son specifically, an option to marry is very nil. Can I just ask a girl I know to bare a child for me? Of course, out of my own DNA and I have no intention to give a marriage proposal! Clearly, this is not what I need for now, just a thought and not tantamount to what I learned to be proper and pure because I opted to remain a eunuch. I learned from Bro Eli recently that a gay has no option to be a eunuch, in the sense that it is a given  fact that all the needed qualifications to be one should be met.  It is said that a eunuch is a man that renounced marriage. I, for one, don’t like to be married with girls, how can I renounce it? Definitely, I am not a eunuch at birth.  And I was not made to be a eunuch by men. So, Bro Eli is correct to read to us the meaning of being a eunuch from the scriptures.

Matthew 19:

11 Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. 12For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”

Being a eunuch or not, some might be wondering, like me, fascinated on what really the bible describes as a woman, specifically a wife. There are rational and biblical possibilities to some of my questions, or even yours. Can I be the wife instead? Certainly, some would say definitely not. But I will not argue to make someone believe but rather, I want to make a point. Though I am gay, I too want to meet this wife who will understand my dilemma – the war of genders inside me, take me for what I am, accept me at face value.  I am not talking about a specific individual woman. And neither am I looking for and talking about a desperate housewife!

These are some of my questions: Who is this woman that I am longing for, to be with? I think I am not bisexual! Am I this woman? Am I a part of this woman? Is this woman different from me? Is this woman unreachable? Is this woman made of different parts, composed of men and women? Is this woman comprised by Jews and Gentiles? Is this woman the body of Jesus Christ, who is the head?

Proverbs 18:

22 He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the LORD

Well I found this woman that my spirit is longing for to be with. And when I found it, I became a part of this woman. And fortunately, I received favor from the Lord. Who doesn’t want favor coming from the Lord? Of course among others, it is better to always prioritize receiving a favor from God. I believe that Jesus Christ has received favor from his Father and he’ll be coming back for it, his wife. And I definitely want to cleave to what is good and share the favor too. What a day would that be when we meet!

2 Corinthians 11:

1I hope you will put up with a little of my foolishness; but you are already doing that. 2I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.

St Paul was talking specifically to the members of the Church of God in Corinth. Mind you, he is not only talking to men. Virgins are Christians who do not accept other doctrines aside from one that has been given by Jesus Christ coming from the Father.

1 Corinthians 11:

1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

1 Corinthians 11, specifically verse 3, says that the head of a woman is man or husband. This verse has other spiritual meaning but I intended to focus on the deeper understanding of the position of a woman as the body where Jesus Christ is the head. Should a fault be found in this explanation, proven by biblical facts, I am willing to be corrected. Allow me to continue. A woman needs man or husband to be her head, not angels.

1 Corinthians 11:

8 For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. 9Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10That is why a wife ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. 11Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; 12for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God.

There are deeper explanations from the bible of woman being the “true teachings or gospel”. These verses I mentioned says a lot. I try to have an open-minded “heart”. Going forward, another verse that moved me to appreciate the Church of God is this:

Proverbs 19:

14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

We have tackled a lot of things from the word “wife.” But to point out which wife comes from the Lord has been properly identified, a prudent one. But we will not get the definition of Webster by this. Let us consult the Bible itself.

Proverbs 31:

1The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.

2What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?

3Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

4It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

5Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

6Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

7Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

8Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

9Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

If you will notice, be it you or me, a gay individual, as long you are a part of the body or the Church of God, then you will appreciate and will not undermine becoming a wife, being a part of “the” wife. You will understand the essence, the importance, the gravity of your position and part in the Church of God. I feel blessed for this grace as the above definition and description of a virtuous woman I found in the Members, Church of God, International, presided by Brother Eliseo Soriano. It is not only reading the text but rather reading between the lines. Try it again at the following verses:

1 Peter 3

1Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 5For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, 6like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

St Peter and St Paul have said that Church, the body should not give way to fear but instead be men of courage. This pertains to men and women, even gays in the Church.

1 Corinthians 16:

12Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.

13Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 14Do everything in love.

In the Church of God, the body is encouraged to love one another by following all the commandments of God through Jesus Christ:

1 Peter 3:

7Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

8Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 9Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10For,
“Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
11He must turn from evil and do good;
he must seek peace and pursue it.
12For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil

Proverbs 2

Moral Benefits of Wisdom

1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,

2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,

3 and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,

4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,

5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.

6 For the LORD gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

7 He holds victory in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.

9 Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair-every good path.

10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

11 Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.

12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men,
from men whose words are perverse,

13 who leave the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,

14 who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,

15 whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.

20 Thus you will walk in the ways of good men
and keep to the paths of the righteous.

21 For the upright will live in the land,
and the blameless will remain in it;

22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

Proverbs 2: 16 – 19 Instructs you and me that wisdom will save you also from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words, who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God. For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead. None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.

Thus, since this post imparts that the wife the author is looking for can be a Church. In connection to that thought, you might have found the Church that is not from God, the opposite of a prudent and noble Church found in Revelation 17:

4 The woman was dressed in purple and bright red. She was gleaming with gold, jewels and pearls. In her hand she held a golden cup filled with things that God hates. It was filled with her terrible, dirty sins. 5 Here is the name that was written on her forehead.

the great city of babylon

the mother of prostitutes

the mother of everything on earth that god hates

6 I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of God’s people. They are the ones who gave witness to Jesus.

When I saw her, I was very amazed.

7 Then the angel said to me, “Why are you amazed? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides on. The beast is the one who has the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw used to exist. But now he does not. He will come up out of the Abyss. He will be destroyed. Some of the people who live on the earth will be amazed when they see the beast. Their names have not been written in the Book of Life from the time the world was created. They will be amazed because even though the beast used to exist and now does not, he will come again.

9 “Here is a problem that you have to be wise to understand. The seven heads are seven hills that the woman sits on. 10 They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is ruling, and the other has still not come. When he does come, he must remain for a little while.

11 “The beast who used to exist, and now does not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the other seven. He will be destroyed.

12 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings. They have not yet received a kingdom. But for one hour they will receive authority to rule together with the beast. 13 They have only one purpose. So they give their power and authority to the beast. 14 They will make war against the Lamb. But the Lamb will overcome them because he is the most powerful Lord of all and the greatest King of all. His appointed, chosen and faithful followers will be with him.”

15 Then the angel spoke to me. “You saw the waters the prostitute sits on,” he said. “They stand for all the nations of the world, no matter what their race or language is. 16 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will destroy her and leave her naked. They will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose. So they agreed to give the beast their power to rule. They will give him that power until God’s words come true.

18 “The woman you saw stands for the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”

Now there is a need to find that woman, that teaching, that Church of God, where the head is Jesus Christ:

Proverbs 8:

34 Blessed is the man who listens to me,
watching daily at my doors,
waiting at my doorway.

35 For whoever finds me finds life
and receives favor from the LORD

36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself;
all who hate me love death.”

I have been thinking about these things, great wisdom in the bible that we have been reading but have not really understood. Let us consider and learn how we can receive a favor from God.
