A Female Christian’s Head Cover

I have observed that there are a lot of organisations, even churches made by men fight a simple question about the hair cover of a woman and remains unsettled up to these days. Ironically, it’s not that simple to many, the reason why they fight and argue about this concern.

Should women wear veils or hats or head covers in the worship assembly today? But if the reason for wearing veils is for prayer, that will imply that it should be worn even outside the assembly, right? If prayer has been a part of Christian women activities in life, would the veil be a part of their body too? Because with her head uncovered, even when shaved, dishonors her head, otherwise: if she has a long hair, it is a glory to her for her hair is given for covering.

Allow me to refresh you of what Paul wrote concerning this tradition and doctrine.

1 Cor 11:2-15 (ESV) said that, 2Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. 3But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, 5but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head–it is the same as if her head were shaven. 6For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head. 7For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man. 8For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. 9Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10That is why a wife ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. 11Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; 12for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God. 13Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a wife to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him, 15but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.

Let me highlight the concern, 1 Cor 11:13-16(KJV) states that, 13Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? 14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

The verse imparts that women need head cover. And what is this head cover? The answer is found even from the simpliest way, by observing nature. Nature taught us that hair is given to a woman for covering. Thus, we can dispose off the idea of hats, veils, or artificial head covers biblical speaking. Thus the head cover should be as natural as nature teaches, that is, maintaining a long hair that it provided for her. However, if you cut it, then it is no longer naturally long, more so when you shave it. Let it grow, untouched by a scissor.

Even black women can grow their hair given the time.

Therefore, a woman praying who has a long uncut hair is a glory to her as she is able to follow the commandment of Jesus Christ, given by God the Father.

One more thing, 1Cor 11:1-4 states, 1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

Thus, based on the bible, the sign of authority on a woman’s head is the uncut hair of a woman that covers her. It is a proof that her man is under Jesus Christ’s authority, and she is in the church of God, mentioned by Paul too. Women brings honour to God, above all, by following this commandment. Should a woman has no sign of God’s authority, then whose authority is she under?

Now, if you want to be subjected to God’s authority, what shall you do? Should women still wear artificial head covers?

Can every woman buy a head cover? Many women in africa does not even got a food to eat.

These are questions that might have been raised by so many who professed that they are female christians, but did their minister, preacher, or anyone in their church answered this with wisdom, authority, conviction, fear and trust in God? If not, then now is the time to ponder if you are in the right church.

Comparing from what St. Paul said about the Lord’s Supper: 1 Cor 11:17(ESV) Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. Finally, 1 Cor 11: 16 (KJV) said, If anyone is inclined to be contentious, we have no such practice, nor do the churches of God.

In the everchanging fashion as a way of life in human history, we cannot help but notice that women become stubborn, consciously or unconsciously, and now is fighting for their right as marginalised sector of the society. This is one of the reasons why things, including head covers, become an issue to them whether to follow it or not. Even in churches made by men, they want to be the pope, the pastor, or the leader.

The essence of women empowerment is to give way for women to attain their potential with the belief that women were so much left behind and it’s high time for them to get out from the back seat.

But this issue is being raised by those who studied economics and social sciences that did not regard the doctrines in the bible.

What I have observed and obviously seen before: women, even in the poorest part of society are able to instill good filipino values in their children.

What about now? As a result of this marginalized ideology, women are working extra hard, up to the point of leaving their kids in the hands of people that primarily concern is the wages paid to them more than caring enough for the kids. Should we consider otherwise, how the love that is shared between family members took different turns. Children were deprived of learning how a love from a parent is. Thus, they become incapable of sharing such intimacy when they finally have their own kids to take care of.

Now, should the essence of marginalism was imparted this way:

To give women a fair chance to learn the doctrine and be able to follow it accordingly,

then, our lives would have been better off. As what Bro Eli imparts to his post that women have a role to play in the church. Actually, this role will end too because like men, women in the church are preparing and also looking forward to the future, when humans become like to angels.

1 Corinthians 15:

51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

What women christian should portray today is not to be leaders or presiding ministers of christian men, but rather be running side by side with christian men that they may fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience!

Let us lead by example:

Jesus, lead the church by example

Ministers, leading the brethren by example

Men, leading the family by example

Women, leading their children by example.

church, leading the outsiders by example.

This is how a Christian organization works.

You can outrightly differentiate if a woman is a true Christian, by way of her actions, taste in clothing, values, even her personality.

There is no EGO in her. She knows that she is a servant too like men, but then again, she knows where to place herself. That is because she knows the doctrine.

Even Jesus knows where to place himself:

Philippians 2:

5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

This would need another posting but anyways let me ask another subject, should a man wear a veil too when praying? How about a cap? If he wears a cap, would it be alright to wear it on top of his long hair, or on top of his short hair? Is it biblical that he grows a long hair and maintain it like unto a woman too? If he wears a long hair, would it be a glory to him? These questions are clearly explained to us in our Church.

The Rationale Why God Created Woman

A Poem (Isang Tula)

Ang Lambong na Panakip

Kapatid na babae, buhok ay pahabain,

itirintas ng mabuti, pangalagaan, patibayin:gaya ng may panaling tatlong ikid,

sa loob ng ating mga pagsasama-sama.

Huwag itong puputulin, sa kasalana’y pantakip,

upang Kaniyang lilimutin at tayo’y patatawarin.

Proverbs 19:

14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents,
but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

Hi! Readers,

It’s me again. I have commented a lot from some of your previous posts and it is but proper that our doctrines, based on the bible, should be learned directly from our presiding minister as he reads the verses to us. I don’t want that the group that I belong to be judged according to what I said. Thus, may I just invite you to our Presiding Minister, Brother Eliseo Soriano’s Blog at:

Thanks for the space and God willing that we grow in the Truth.

That was the most sexist piece of rubbish i’ve heard in a long time. And u ppl call this “truth”…

” symbol of authority on her head”

It is no longer a symbol of authority. During that time, the “liberal” woman of that day didn’t wear them. Conservative woman showing that they were under their husbands authority wore them. I would argue that a woman taking a man’s last name is more a symbol of authority in today’s society.

  3. September 21, 2007 at 5:42 pm

And who’s “them” are you talking about? Were they the Roman Catholic women – the converts of those who slain the Christians? Look at your nuns and the women you call sisters, even them wears veil for thinking that women should really wear head covers (though they have interpreted it erroneously and wore an object instead of the natural hair, uncut).

But then again, why do they follow your tradition thinking that it is but proper when praying, but then again your pope wears a hat.

Just evident to their ideas how far they are willing to go.

(Romans 10:2-3) For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

(Jeremiah 23:30) Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbor.

(Isaiah 56:11) Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

Time and again, what the bible said is proven to be true.

(1 Corinthians 2:6) Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to naught…

    Thus, God said:

(1 Corinthians 1:19) For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

    Wazzup men:

This is the very message by Shvat5750:

“That was the most sexist piece of rubbish i’ve heard in a long time. And u ppl call this “truth”…”

Shvat5750 said this on 10, July 2007 at 8:15 pm

A response to Shvat5750 (posted comment above):

Sexist piece of RUBBISH? or SEXIEST PIECE OF RUBBISH? What do you mean by rubbish? (Lets learn a little vocabulary).

Rub·bish [ruhb-ish] >> means 1). worthless, unwanted material that is rejected or thrown out; debris; litter; trash. 2).
nonsense, as in writing or art:

Exactly!!! We DON’T just CALL it TRUTH but CAREFULLY CONSIDERED and HIGHLY REGARDED as ONE of the TRUTHS that the Holy Bible is teaching US (Biblical Christians).

You called the TRUTHS a RUBBISH? Well, it’s just MANIFESTED in YOU that your are one of the ENEMIES of the TRUTHS like your “very father”. You always want and love LIES, aren’t you? I hate to say these but I can’t bear my silence and long suffering for those “DESPISERS OF THE TRUTH.” Despise me and my entire being and I will accept it wholeheartedly and bear it until the end even at my grave:

Truly that your being as the “SON of yopur FATHER” reflected in John 8:44 saying,
44YE are of your father the DEVIL, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the TRUTH, because there is no TRUTH in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a LIAR, and the father of it.

Who follow the way of ELMAZ the SORCERER your brother and your patron, who never stop perverting the RIGHT WAYS of the Lord (Acts 13:8-10). Because if your not a child of the devil, you should respect what the Bible says and teaches us to have like having long hair of our women. Mind you, those teachings were written for us and serve as our guide in fearing God and obeying to obtain salvation. Our ULTIMATE and FULL DUTY is to FEAR GOD and OBEY His COMMANDMENTS for this is the CONCLUSION of the MATTER (Ecclesiastes 12:13). And mind you again, It ’s not just an ordinary commandments but ALL the commandments of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20) and one of these is the LONG HAIR of our WOMEN (1 Corinthians 11:14-15). It is not just an ordinary teaching of God but also the teaching of NATURE intended for both men and women accounted in 1 Corinthians 11:14-15 saying,
14Does not the very NATURE of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering.

But because of your unbelief, you denied the power of the WORDS which are the TRUTHS (John 17:17) because you are not of God. For if you are of God, you will hearken God’s Words (John 8:47). Therefore, the conclusion is that you are a CHILD of Satan. And the children of Satan are considered as WICKED. I don’t wonder why you don’t understand God’s simple and rudiment Words, and much more the Words of God that are HARD TO UNDERSTAND in 2 Peter 3:16 saying,
“16He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are HARD to UNDERSTAND, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction

and surely you will not till the end of times. For it is written that none of the wicked shall understand but the wise in Daniel 12:9-10 saying,
“9He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. ____ 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. NONE OF THE WICKED WILL UNDERSTAND, but those who are WISE will understand.”

I petty you dude. But you know what? It’s not yet to late. You still have the chance to salvation. But if you will say, I’m fine; I’m not a child of the devil since nothing bad is happening to me, nor harm nor evil things. Yea, your right in the second place that nothing bad happens to you because at this very moment that your reading these comments, you are breathing normally, alive and kicking. That’s what we call GOD’s JUSTICE in Matthew 5:45 saying,
“45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his SUN TO RISEON THE EVIL AND THE GOOD, and sends RAIN ON THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE UNRIGHTEOUS.”

All chances are yours, just go read and follow this advice of God in Proverbs 1:23, 33 saying,
“23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. ____ 33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.”

And if not, these things will happen to you soon in Proverbs 1:24-33 saying,
    “24Because I have CALLED, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; _____ 25But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: _____ 26I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
_____ 27When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. ______ 28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: _____ 29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: _____ 30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. ______ 31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of THEIR OWN WAY, and be filled with their own devices. _____ 32For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. ______ 33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.”

As you can see and read in Proverbs 1:24, God is calling. The very valid question there is, HOW, WHERE and WHY does God calls a person? Here are the answers in 2 Thesalonians 2:14 saying,
(How?) “14Whereunto HE CALLED YOU BY OUR GOSPEL, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You are called by God when you HEARKEN the GOSPEL that the apostles are preaching. And in in 1 Corinthians 1:9,2 saying,
9 “GOD, who has CALLED you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.” _____ (Where?) 2″UNTO THE CHURCH OF GOD which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, (Why?) CALLED TO BE SAINTS, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their’s and our’s:”

and don’t let your OWN WAY reigns and drives you to hell but submit to God’s WAY, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in John 14:6 saying,
“6Jesus saith unto him, I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Jesus is called the WAY in the Bible that was 2000 years ago and also His CHURCH, the WAY that was persecuted by Apostle PAUL in Acts 22:4 / 9:2 / 8:1, in 1 Corinthians 15:9 and in Galatians 1:3 saying,
22:4″And “I PERSECUTED” this “WAY” unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.”
9:2 “And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this WAY, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.”
8:1 “And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.”
    15:9 “For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.” see 1 Corinthians 15:8-10 (in Context);
1:13 “For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:” see Galatians 1:12-14 (in Context).

the CHURCH WHERE CHRIST REIGN as the HEAD OF THE CHURCH in Colossians 1:18 saying,
“18And HE is the HEAD of the body, the CHURCH: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”

That so-called “WAY” 2000 years backward is NOW, in present time, CONSIDERED as and CALLED “THE OLD WAY” or the “THE OLD PATH” based on what Prophet Jeremiah had prophesied accounted in the Book of Jeremiah 6:16 saying,
16″Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for THE OLD PATHS, where is the GOOD WAY, and WALK THEREIN, and ye shall find REST FOR YOUR SOULS. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

That Old Path is well recommended by God to each of us to be walked or traversed with if we aim to find a resting place for our souls. That OLD WAY is what Bro. ELI SORIANO preaches to the world. You may visit the website opf that OLD PATH: http://theoldpath.tv/ But the WICKED refused to walk therein.

May you be enlightened with these Words of God I quoted from the Bible. Try to visit also the website: http://esoriano.wordpress.com/ and learn many things that benefitial to our flesh and spirit.

May the God Almighty, the God of Israel and our God bless us all!!!

Jews under Judaism prefers to believe that Jesus is not the annointed saviour. Indeed, they failed to recognize the Saviour prophesied in Devarim 18:15 which also states:

Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him. 16 For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.”
17 The LORD said to me: “What they say is good.

18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.

19 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account. 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death.”

21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

Notice how this was cleared by Peter:

    Acts 3:

1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon.

Peter saw this, he said to them: “Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. 14You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 15You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. 16By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.
17″Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. 18But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer. 19Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. 21He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. 22For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. 23Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.’

24″Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days. 25And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’ 26When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

It’s is not too late for a Jew to believe, even the Gentiles.

    Romans 11:
7What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened, 8as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.”
9And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them; 10let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and bend their backs forever.”
